Error Reference

If you see an error message in Valtrics, find it below for an explanation and recommended fix.

  3. Follow the Fix to resolve the issue

If your error includes a reference code (e.g., ERR-A1B2C3), include it when contacting support — it helps us investigate faster.

Validation Errors

These errors occur when creating or editing data.

Name already existsA product or metric with this name already exists in your organizationUse a different name or edit the existing item
Invalid lifecycle stageAn unrecognized lifecycle stage was providedUse one of: Introduction, Growth, Maturity, Decline
Invalid email addressThe email format is incorrectCheck the email address and try again
Target must be a numberA non-numeric value was entered for a metric targetEnter a numeric value
Actual must be a numberA non-numeric value was entered for a metric actualEnter a numeric value

Authentication Errors

These errors relate to logging in and session management.

UnauthorizedYou are not logged in or your session has expiredLog in again
Invalid credentialsThe email or password is incorrectCheck your credentials and try again. Use "Forgot password" if needed
Email not verifiedYour email address hasn't been confirmedCheck your inbox for the verification email and click the link
Account lockedToo many failed login attemptsWait 15 minutes and try again, or use "Forgot password" to reset

Permission Errors

These errors occur when you don't have the right access level.

Insufficient permissionsYour role doesn't allow this operationAsk an Admin to upgrade your role, or ask someone with the right role to perform the action

Organization Errors

Organization not foundYour account is not associated with an organizationContact support to resolve your account setup
Invitation expiredThe invitation link is older than 7 daysAsk the person who invited you to resend the invitation
Invitation already acceptedThe invitation has already been usedLog in with the account you used to accept the invitation
Member limit reachedYour plan's member limit has been reachedUpgrade your plan or remove inactive members

Bulk Upload Errors

These errors occur during CSV file imports.

Upload validation failedThe file contains rows with errorsReview the validation preview, fix the flagged rows, and re-upload
Invalid file formatThe file is not a valid CSVSave your spreadsheet as CSV (.csv) format and try again
Missing required columnsThe CSV is missing expected column headersDownload a fresh template and make sure all required columns are present
Row limit exceededThe file contains too many rowsSplit into smaller batches and upload separately
Owner not foundThe owner email doesn't match any team memberInvite the user first, or remove the owner email from the CSV

System Errors

These are unexpected errors that shouldn't normally occur.

Something went wrongAn unexpected error occurred on the serverRefresh the page and try again. If it persists, contact support
Rate limit exceededToo many requests in a short time periodWait a moment and try again
Service unavailableValtrics is temporarily unavailableWait a few minutes and try again. Check the status page if available

Reporting an Error

If your error isn't listed here or the fix doesn't resolve the issue, contact support with:

  1. The exact error message (or reference code if shown)
  2. What you were doing when the error occurred
  3. The URL of the page where the error appeared
  4. Your browser and operating system
