A complete reference of terms used in Valtrics.
A
Actual (Value)
The real, measured value of a metric for a given time period. Compare with Target.
Admin
An organization role with full access to products, KPI trees, metrics, and member management. Admins cannot delete the workspace or manage billing. See Team & Workspace.
At Risk
A metric health status indicating the actual value is between 80–99% of the target. Displayed with a yellow indicator.
B
Bulk Upload
The feature for importing multiple products or metrics at once from a CSV file. See Bulk Importing Data.
D
Decline
A product lifecycle stage indicating usage is decreasing. Focus shifts to migration, sunset planning, or pivot evaluation.
G
Goal Node
A node type in a KPI tree representing a high-level business objective. Typically used at the root or top levels of a tree.
Growth
A product lifecycle stage indicating product-market fit is achieved and the product is scaling.
H
Health (Metric)
An automatically calculated status based on how a metric's actual value compares to its target. Statuses: On Track (green), At Risk (yellow), Off Track (red), No Data (gray).
Health Rollup
The aggregation of child node health statuses into a parent node's status. The parent reflects the worst health status among its children.
I
Initiative Node
A node type in a KPI tree representing an action, project, or experiment that influences a KPI. Helps connect what you're doing to why you're doing it.
Introduction
A product lifecycle stage indicating a new product building initial traction. Focus is on validation and early adoption.
K
KPI
Key Performance Indicator — a measurable value that demonstrates how effectively a goal is being achieved. In Valtrics, KPIs are nodes in a KPI tree.
KPI Node
A node type in a KPI tree representing a key performance indicator that drives a goal.
KPI Tree
A visual hierarchy connecting a business goal to the KPIs and metrics that influence it. The core feature of Valtrics. See Building KPI Trees.
L
Lagging Indicator
An outcome metric that reflects past performance and cannot be directly influenced. Examples: quarterly revenue, annual churn rate, customer lifetime value. Typically found near the root of a KPI tree.
Leading Indicator
A predictive metric that can be influenced directly and predicts future outcomes. Examples: weekly signups, feature adoption rate, NPS score. Typically found near the leaves of a KPI tree.
Lifecycle Stage
The current maturity phase of a product. Valtrics uses four stages: Introduction, Growth, Maturity, Decline. See Lifecycle Stages.
M
Maturity
A product lifecycle stage indicating a stable user base. Focus shifts to retention, efficiency, and cost management.
Member
An organization role with access to create and edit products, metrics, and KPI trees. Cannot manage other members or workspace settings. See Team & Workspace.
Metric
A quantifiable measure used to track product performance. Examples: Monthly Active Users, Conversion Rate, MRR. See Working with Metrics.
Metric Node
A node type in a KPI tree representing a specific, directly measurable data point.
N
Node
An element in a KPI tree. Types include Goal, KPI, Metric, and Initiative.
O
Off Track
A metric health status indicating the actual value is below 80% of the target. Displayed with a red indicator.
On Track
A metric health status indicating the actual value meets or exceeds the target. Displayed with a green indicator.
Organization
Your team's workspace in Valtrics. All data is scoped to your organization. Each organization is completely isolated from others. See Team & Workspace.
Owner (Role)
The organization role with full control, including billing, workspace deletion, and all settings. There is one Owner per organization.
Owner (Product)
The team member assigned as responsible for a product. Different from the organization Owner role.
P
Portfolio
The collection of all products managed by your organization in Valtrics. Accessed from the main sidebar. See Managing Your Portfolio.
Product
A digital product, service, or platform managed within Valtrics. The central entity that connects to KPI trees, metrics, and lifecycle stages. See Product Details.
T
Tag
A label applied to a product for filtering and organization. Products can have multiple tags.
Target
The goal value for a metric in a given time period. Compare with Actual.
Time Period
The measurement window for a metric value. Can be monthly, quarterly, annual, or custom.
V
Value Discovery
Valtrics' AI-powered feature that helps identify the right KPIs and metrics for a product. Available as a guided wizard or contextual suggestions. See Value Discovery.
Viewer
An organization role with read-only access to all data. Cannot create, edit, or delete anything. See Team & Workspace.
